This vintage African basket is traditionally given at weddings, and fittingly so as each has a unique design symbol representing life, love, health and happiness. 

Makenge baskets are woven from the roots of the makenge bush and traditionally used to toss maize in rural areas of Zambia. They are durable and were often passed down through generations. 

Due to its handmade nature, no two baskets are alike.

Patina ranges from rusty and dark browns to dark grey. Inquire if you would like pictures of exact availability and size.
